It happens at the worst time. Your phone battery is dead and you have little time to recharge your phone. You can charge most phones about twice as fast if you put it in “airplane mode” when you plug in the charger.
To reduce how fast your battery drains when you are running low, turn off “bluetooth” and “cellular data” if you can operate without it. Connecting to WiFi for email takes much less power than cellular data. Your phone will still work.
You can also shut off any applications running on your phone that are not essential. You can change your email setting so you check for new emails when you request rather than continually checking for email. If you are just using the phone function … it will last much longer.
If a low battery is a frequent or high impact issue, you can buy small rechargeable batteries for $30 that you can recharge on the go. The Photive 3000mAh Portable Backup Battery Charger is the white unit (picture on right side) that I carry. The Photive has a USB port that you connect your charging cable to and then into your phone. My experience is that it works as fast as plugging into a wall charger. Of course, if you are in your car, a car charging cable in the glove box can be a life saver.
